What It Is

Dihexa is a synthetic peptide derived from angiotensin IV, developed by university researchers as a potential treatment for cognitive decline. Its standout property is extreme potency at promoting synaptogenesis — the formation of new connections between neurons.

It appears to work through the hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) / c-Met system, a powerful pathway for tissue and neural growth. In preclinical models it has been reported as dramatically more potent than BDNF at building synapses, which is the source of the excitement around it for memory and learning.

That same potency is the caution: a molecule that strongly drives new tissue and blood-vessel growth raises theoretical concerns (for example, anywhere there is cancer risk), and human data is essentially anecdotal. It is used at small doses, often orally.

What People Use It For

Memory & Learning

Promotes synapse formation tied to memory and cognition.

Striking preclinical potency; human evidence is anecdotal

Cognitive Repair

Studied for cognitive decline and neural repair.

Preclinical research origin; not clinically established

Neuroplasticity

Supports the brain's ability to form new connections.

Mechanistically supported in models

How Strong Is the Evidence?

We rate every peptide honestly across four dimensions — and tell you what it's not.

Experimental

Mostly preclinical (animal/in-vitro) evidence with a clear mechanism. Human effects are largely anecdotal.

Who It's For

Men

Men experimenting with potent cognitive enhancement, aware of the thin human data

MemoryLearningNeuroplasticity

Extremely potent — start at the low end. Mostly preclinical/anecdotal. Theoretical growth concerns warrant caution.

Women

Women exploring memory and cognitive support

Hard Stops — Do Not Use If:

Avoid with any history of cancer — strongly promotes new tissue/vessel growth (theoretical concern).

Cautions — Use With Care If:

Extremely potent — start at the low end.

Mostly preclinical and anecdotal evidence in humans.

What to expect — side effects

Standardized data for Dihexa is limited. These are the general effects to watch for with this type of compound.

Injection-site reactionCommon After injection

Rotate sites, use sterile technique, let alcohol dry before injecting.

Mild fatigue or headacheOccasional Early in a cycle

Hydrate and ease the dose; usually transient as your body adjusts.

Individual responses vary. Stop and consult a clinician for severe, persistent, or unexpected reactions.
